Keates Calls On Players To Grab Game By Scruff Of Neck

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates has today called on his players to grab the game by the scruff of the neck as the Saddlers look for all three points in our relegation six pointer with Northampton Town tomorrow.

Speaking to Express And Star – Dean Keates said

“Northampton are going to come and have a right go,”

“Their last two results have given them a chance. Both teams need the points.”

“It should be a great game. It’s probably going to be nervy. We need to grab the game by the scruff of the neck and impose ourselves on it. If we do we will get the points.”

The Saddlers have struggled to stamp their authority on games since Christmas with perhaps our most dominant display coming in our last home game against AFC Wimbledon although a pathetic second half saw all the hard work out done.

Should the Saddlers defeat Northampton tomorrow then MK Dons and Northampton will be relegated to League 2, leaving just one relegation spot up for grabs heading into the final week of the season. Should Oldham lose tomorrow and the Saddlers win, then Oldham would need us to throw away at least a six goal swing against Bradford and Fleetwood.

A victory for Northampton could see the Cobblers climb out of the bottom four and with them hosting Oldham on the final day they will fancy their chances of clinching an impossible great escape.
