Both sides will enter the weekends match feeling as though it is a winnable game. Walsall will be backed by a sold out away end, whist Sutton will know that a win will see them potentially jump into the automatic promotion places.

Sutton United

It has been almost the dream start to life in League Two for The U’s, who are currently sat 6th in the table. They have picked up 23 points so far this season. They are, however, not a team that can be beaten. They have lost as many as the Saddlers this season, with the difference between the teams being that Sutton can maintain a lead in games.

They are the joint third highest scorers, however they don’t have an out and out goalscorer. Sutton have a team mentality to attacking play, which is shown by the fact they have 12 different players who have scored in the league, compared with Walsall’s eight. Defensively, Sutton have been fairly tight, conceding only 17 times.

Interestingly, most of United’s signings were all from the non-leagues, with three of those being regular performers. Midfielder Alistair Smith, and striker Donavan Wilson were two of these, and both have made their mark scoring three goals each. Both are talents that have adjusted to life in the football league, similar to Walsall’s Jack Earing.

Walsall

The Saddlers enter the match on a run of five league games without a loss. Eight points from a possible 15 is not a bad return for Matt Taylor, especially against three teams above them. Sutton present another opportunity to extend that run, but Walsall must perform.

Late goals have reduced the points return, and goals from crosses have been a sting in the thorn for Walsall all season, which showed against Barrow.

Defensive duo Monthe and Menayese have looked solid in heart of defence, but full backs Ward and White must do more to aid the sides defensive efforts.

Up top, Miller will be looking to continue his fine form, with several players competing to feature in attack with him. That depth will give Sutton something to think about especially with options off the bench.
