A Win Is A Win No Matter How Ugly It Is

|

Well we all wanted a win, we all wanted a goal and we got both last night in a game that can quickly be forgotten about.

It wasn’t a classic but when you are desperate for a win you will take it no matter how it comes.

Lets make no mistake that Morecambe are probably the worst side we will face this season. They are easily on the downward spiral towards Non-League but we can only beat what is in front of us and could have easily grabbed a few more last night.

A solo goal by our beautiful bearded midfielder Stuart Sinclair was enough to see us grab a much needed three points. Our viking was on hand to tap the ball into the net following Caolan Laverys initial shot.

It was a case of normal service resumed as we seemed to capitalise on some woeful defending. Holden and Gaffney both had chances to put the game to bed but somehow couldn’t get it past Barry Roche in the Morecmabe goal.

Last night was our third clean sheet in four and gives confidence that Darrell now has a defence which he believes in. Liddle, Clarke and Scarr despite not being spectacular last night they were solid, however the pick of the back four was Zak Jules. He has really made that left back position his own since the injury to Cameron Pring. I still see him as the centre of a back three but he gives us that more solid, defensive and no nonsense look compared to Pring.

Gaffney for all his criticism on Saturday really showed why Clarke wanted him here. He bullied the back four all evening and made himself a real nuisance – I just wish he would get into central positions more often!

Lets not criticise too much though. We grabbed our first win since the opening day of the season.

Here’s hoping this is the turnaround we so desperately needed.
