Another Day And More Transfer Target Misses

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates has today revealed that the club missed out on two marquee signings last week as he frantically tries to add reinforcements to his side ahead of the new season.

Keates believes both signings would have been a real coup for the club with one of the unknown targets moving to the Championship with another moving closer to his family home.

We believe that only one trialist remains at the club but unsure as to whether Keates wants to sign him.

Keates has confirmed to the Express And Star that it has been a frustrating summer and conceded that the problem is down to finances…

“I can understand fans being frustrated. As a manager of a football club you want to have your players in as soon as possible. And you want them to be contracted players.”

“But if you can’t do that if you can’t get the players in that you want – often down to finances because you are getting outbid – you have to then look at the loan options.”

The Saddlers currently have just one centre back on our books (Jon Guthrie)  with the Football League season just two full days away. Rightly so us as fans are getting increasingly worries and Keates quotes all summer would hint towards a poor budget that just isn’t able to attract the players he wants

T minus fifty-two hours until the new football season and we still have more questions than answers….over to you Walsall FC.
