Bakayoko Set To Leave Walsall For Bristol Rovers

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates has confirmed that the club have accepted a bid for striker Amadou Bakayoko.

Bakayoko wasn’t part of the matchday squad which defeated Plymouth 2–1 this afternoon with Keatesy preferring Dylan Parker on the bench.

We understand that the club in question is fellow League 1 rivals Bristol Rovers and Bakayoko will move early next week.

Some sources suggest that we are set to receive between £100,000 – £150,000 with add ons should Baka improve at Rovers and goes onto bigger things.

Bakayoko has had an inconsistent career with the Saddlers since making his debut in 2013 coming on as a substitute during our 1-0 defeat against Port Vale at Vale Park.

Baka then joined Southport, Telford and Worcester before breaking into the Saddlers first team on a consistent basis.

It would take Baka until 2016 to open his scoring for the Saddlers. He had waited so long to score his first goal that he grabbed a hat-trick in our victory against Grimsby in the EFL Trophy. Baka went onto score six goals in that competition, scooping the EFL Trophy golden boot for that season.

He scored his first league goal for the Saddlers in our 3-2 win over Shrewsbury Town in 2016 – he was later sent off in that match.

During his one hundred and six appearances for the Saddlers, Baka scored eighteen goals. Seven of which came in cup competitions.

The fact that we can cash in on Bakayoko will give manager Dean Keates the chance to improve his squad should he wish to ahead of the transfer window closure on Thursday next week. Although Keates can still sign unattached players and loan signings until the end of August.
