Work is well underway as the pitch at Banks’s gets spruced up and back in tip top condition.

The pitch took a battering last season and fell foul to a cold and frosty December, so the groundstaff are working hard to bring it back to excellent condition.

The main difference that groundsman Derek McCann and his colleagues will implement is increasing the grass area around the pitch, giving the players more room to warm up before the game on the sidelines.

The team are also working heard to create room about four inches under the surface of the pitch, in order to dump sand and 24 bags of seed so fresh new green grass will come through.

Next is the fertilising, watering and cutting stage, as well as sprucing up the advertising hoarding and stands.

It will good as new come July 19th, when the first preseason match against Wolves comes to the Banks’s.
