It has been a busy week at the Bescot, with players deciding their future lies with the Saddlers and others deciding it`s not.

We saw the departures of Sofienne Zaaboub and Chris Palmer due to stability and money issues respectively, which can be understood when you offer them one-year contracts.

With our lesson learnt, we then offer two-year deals to Mark Hughes and Steve Jones, who both commit to Walsall, which can only be seen as positive moves by CH.

There were also moves for midfielder Alan Mahon and striker Jason Price, but both chose against us to move to Millwall and Tranmere respectively. Obviously about the money then!

If CH keeps his ambitious approach up to sign players like he is trying to, we should have a good squad and the misery of recent weeks should be forgotten by the time August 8th comes around.

In other news, Mick Halsall swapped Walsall for Wolves, a move that shocked many Saddlers fans and probably even Wolves fans alike.

My guess was that there was clearly a disagreement behind closed doors and it came out that Bonser, who is eager for the youth coaches to bring through new talent to sell at ridiculous process, wanted four players a season to break through into the first team.

Halsall said that this would not be possible and ended in his resignation. We wish Mick well and thank him for his 11-year service for the club.
