Bescot Beat: Byfield’s back – good or bad?

I was pleased to see the return of a ‘mini’ legend to the Banks’s this week, although it received a mixed reception from the masses.

You have to admit, he’s 32, not scored a goals prolifically for two years and is unfit, but to be honest, what have we, or Byfield, got to lose?

I think he will be better than Ricketts because he always had a higher work-rate, which produced important goals as a result.

His assists as well as his important goals played a vital role in the Saddlers winning an epic 3-2 match back in 2001 (you know the rest), which will always be seen as a big chapter of success in the history books.

Hopefully, especially with the evidence on the performance on Saturday, he will bring some form of success to the Saddlers frontline…but to be honest, could it get anyworse?

Just imagine…strong defence and goalscoring strikers – we would be top of the league! Just proves you can’t have it all.
