Most of the attention this week will have been on Sven’s return to english football with the 61-year-old becoming the director of football at Notts County on a five-year deal.
My opinion on the matter is that it can only end in tears for the L2 club. In a way I do hope that this appointment will do some good for the Magpies, but Sven will find it difficult in the basement division having no previous knowledge of the FL.
Personally, I would be happy as a Saddlers fan to have a new chairman at the club who has a lot of money to spend on new players but not a celeb who is looking to earn a quick buck and kick-start a career that will simply only prove successful as a PR excercise.
Back to things Walsall and our recent link to Lee Hughes was put to bed when he signed a two-year contract at Notts County to become Sven’s first find of the summer (although I doubt it).
Winger Peter Till also signed a one-year contract after a successful trial, playing in the games against Rotherham and Wolves. Although for me, he still has a lot to do I think Till will prove to be a good signing for us with a bit of nurturing from Hutch and MOC.
Finally, congratulations to former Saddler Danny Fox after he completed his move SPL side Celtic, joining the Tony Mowbray regime at Celtic Park.
