Finally things are looking up in terms of this season at Walsall Fc!!!

A season that began with such high expectations with ‘ginger mourinho’ Dean Smith in charge, yet soon seemed to head towards total deflation, seems to be finally looking up for The Saddlers.

Up until valentines day Walsall had achieved only four victories, (Leyton Orient, Bournemouth, Preston and Sheffield Wednesday) and although we had gained a lot of draws, things were looking bleak.

Fast forward to today, and things are looking a lot brighter.

Seven points out of nine in our previous three games makes life as a Saddlers fan seem a lot brighter right now.

A 2-0 win at The Banks’ against fellow strugglers Wycombe Wanderers was much needed and soon followed up with a hard fought away win 1-0 at Scunthorpe, to drag us out of the relegation zone.

That was followed by another away trip, this time to Deepdale to face off with Preston North End, from which we came away with a point in a game where in all honesty we were unlucky to not come away with all three.

These results, added to the fact that all three were well earned clean sheets proving that Walsall have a great defence on its day, has left the Walsall faithful with more than a little glimpse of hope heading into the business end of the season.

That being said, by no means is avoiding relegation a certainty, what with Walsall’s well known ability to throw things away.

Also the fixture run in to the end of the season throws up a lot of difficult fixtures, with both Sheffield’s, Charlton, Huddersfield and MK Dons still yet to be played.

The teams around us also refuse to stop picking up unexpected points, case in point being Wycombe knocking five past Hartlepool at the weekend and Chesterfield doing a Walsall and gaining three points from Sheffield Wednesday.

One thing is for certain, this could shape up to be a very exciting (and undoubtedly heart attack inducing) run in, in the fight against relegation!

Fingers crossed!
