Byfield looks to avenge goal drought

Manager Chris Hutchings has tipped Darren Byfield to become a goal scoring machine for the Saddlers.

The 33 year old captain and striker has only scored 3 times this year, and saw 3 shots go frustratingly amiss in last weekends’ defeat to Colchester United.

As tensions built around the Banks’s stadium during the Colchester match, the day of Saddlers bad luck was epitomised by Byfield’s failure to put the Saddlers back in the game. However, as Byfield is set to feature back in the starting line-up after injury, he has the opportunity to restore the Saddler faith.

Hutchings told the Express and Star: “One minute you`re a devil and the next you`re the best thing since sliced bread”

‘But you have to work hard in training to start sticking the ball in the net and your confidence comes flooding back…He could have had three goals with the chances he had against Colchester. He apologised when he came in to the changing room for the misses last week, he`s just got to make sure he puts them away the next time.” He continued

As the Saddlers need a win tomorrow to get their confidence up, and to tempt supporters back to the Banks’s after worryingly low attendances, we hope Byfield will waste no time finding the back of the net again.
