We need Mr Tracey and his boys and definatley Brains!!! But as they say anything could happen…….
A lot will depend on how Doncaster will approach the game. A 2-1 defeat on saturday means any play off hopes have gone. However with local rivals Rotherham also in trouble they might just want to do them a favour. Although some Donny fans might just want to help send them down. With a canny manager in David Penny I expect them to try and bring there season to a close with a winning sequence especially as these are the last few games at what will always be the Belle view ground to me. However the bench at Doncaster could well include some younger players as he looks forward to next season.

Doncaster Rovers Team News:

Some question marks in the Doncaster team selection. In defence Mark Albrighton has been recalled from Chester as defensive cover. Dave Penny has told the defender who was linked with a move to Walsall in pre season that he has no future at Doncaster, but he maybe required again since Steve Roberts was withdrawn on saturday.

Kevin Horlock is reported to be returning to Ipswich having failed to agree a contract,so if this isn’t resolved Green could be favorite to partner Thorton in the middle.

Ross McCormack will be hoping to keep his place after a wonderful goal from a free kick. Alun Armstrong will also hope to keep his place up front with Leo Fortune West waiting in the wings. Lewis Guy who came on as sub will also be hoping for a start.

Player to watch: Sean Thornton

name Sean Thornton
Height 5.10
Weight 11.00
Date of birth 18-05-1983
Place of birth Drogheda
Position Midfielder
Nationality Ireland

Having stated he wants to play at a higher level these could be the last few games Sean has in a Rovers shirt.Although Rovers will want more than the 175k they paid Sunderland for him. However at this level Thornton can control a game as well as providing a goal or two. This has been proven against teams better than the saddlers just ask cup victims, Man City, Villa and also Araenal.

Walsall Team News:

KB reported that everyone came through the Vale match ok. However there will be another check on Sunday when the players will report in to prepare for the Donny game.

We have failed to keep the same team for two matches running and I expect changes for Monday. Micheal Standing did his chances no harm. Also with us playing more counter attacking football Ishmels pace may also figure at some point, even Daryl Taylor may come in for a subs bench place to compete with Mark Wright for a wide spot.

Up front will will see how fit Steve Claridge really is, at forty two games in three days is a big ask, if he starts I wouldn’t expect him to last.

I wouldn’t like to guess the eleven that will start, but if pushed the defence would remain the same. Midfield Keates and Osborn with Wright and Ishmel wide, Claridge and Constable up front.

Player to watch: James Constable

4K buy from Chippenham, a purchase for the future but he’s time has come early. the (slim) hopes of us staying up rest on his shoulders. Without goals draws will not be enough. He looked capable of being a handful after his goal saturday he needs to carry the new found confidence forward into Mondays (and beyond)game.

Match Facts & Stats

Letio provided the winner at Bescot earlier in the season (those were the days). Our last visit last season provided a poor performance and a defeat we can’t afford another repeat.
