Walsall welcome Harrogate Town to Bescot Stadium as the side return to League Two action.

Harrogate come into the match on the back of three defeats in their last four league games, however they remain in 7th place, and with it, a play-off spot.

Walsall are three points and seven places behind Harrogate, however they come into the match unbeaten in six, and finally clicking under Matt Taylor.

Regarding the cups, both sides progressed to the second round of the FA Cup, followed by defeats in the Papa Johns Trophy, although both sides have progressed there too.

For the Saddlers, this would be a real statement win, however arguably one that should be realistic. They will be backed by around 5000 home fans, and given the form of the sides, it is a match that could propel them up the league further.

Harrogate won’t be an easy match. This is a test for the side to see whether the dip in form is a blip, or a true representation of where they are at.

Giving us his insight on all things Harrogate is Paul Mitchell.

How do you feel that Harrogate have got on so far this season?

Pretty well, though the start was a lot better than the last few games.

Last season was a good showing for Harrogate after promotion, was League Two what you expected?

Kind of – the standard is obviously higher than the National League, but maybe more to do with physicality than entertainment.

Which players should Walsall be wary of?

Alex Pattison has probably been our best player since signing in the summer – a dangerous all-round attacking midfielder.

Any young talents that are breaking into the Harrogate team?

Unfortunately not really! The manager was reluctant to blood youngsters even in a dead rubber in the Trophy during the week.

What would constitute a ‘good’ season for Harrogate this season?

We are 7th but the direction of travel is downwards at present. To reach the playoffs would be remarkable with our small squad – top half is perhaps more realistic.

Predictions for the weekend?

The way things have been going recently, something like 2-1 Walsall is maybe the likeliest result – if that happens we may have to call BK!
