Carlisle are been linked with every striker going at the moment whilst they try and replace Ex Walsall player Karl Hawley who appears to be Championship bound. However the sunday papers have announced that they are showing interest in 33 year old Dougie Freeman who is out of contract at Crystal Palace. Dougie is thought to be a player which is on the radar of Walsall manager Richard Money.

Peter Taylor has offered Dougie Freeman a new contract, however it is rumoured that all things are not well. Dougie would be happy to stay at SE25 however talks of another striker comming in, would have the effect of pushing him down the pecking order. Last season Dougie made only eleven starts scoring three goals. One of which won the Palace Goal of the season award. Dougie seems not to fancy adding to the 23 games spent on the bench. Rumour also has it that the contract offerd to Mr Freeman is at a financial level which represents a possible bit player roll, hence leaving the door open for him to join the exodus led by Tommy Black another player Walsall were linked with last season.

So in his search for regular football and one last payday it looks as if Dougie Freeman could be leaving Palace. Whether he will return to an area he already knows well (having played for Forest and Wolves) or he will try pastures new only time will tell.

Of course Palace may just up there contract offer and he will stay……interesting times.
