Clarke Closing In On Two New Signings

|

Walsall boss Darrell Clarke is confident that the Saddlers can add at least two new signings before they set off for Poland on Sunday.

Clarke has already made eight signings this summer with Jack Rose, Shay Facey, James Clarke, Cameron Pring, Jack Kieresey, James Hardy, Stuart Sinclair and Elijah Adebayo arriving.

Speaking to the Express And Star Clarke said

“I’d like to think there will be two of three added before Poland,”

As expected with our meagre budget and the fact we now find ourselves in League 2, Clarke has admitted that he has missed out on some of his targets.

“We are in a market where we can’t always get our first, second or third choice because they are wanted elsewhere.“

Despite missing out on his targets Clarke has a philosophy and type of player he wants and will continue to go down his list until he gets the men he wants.

“But we want to bring a certain style of player and I keep mentioning that word ‘hungry’. We want players with something to prove. We want players who are going to play for the shirt and the football club.”

The Saddlers face Nuneaton on Saturday before jetting off to Poland to their training base before playing a behind closed doors friendly.

Clarke has confirmed that Alfreton trialists Jon Flatt, Liam McAlinden and former Walsall striker Alex Nicholls will not be offered a deal.
