Walsall boss Darrell Clarke has today said he wants another three or four players before the transfer window shuts on September 3rd.
Clarke has made another striker and another central defender as his main priorities and wants another experienced head in the side.
The Saddlers have signed eleven players this summer Jack Rose, Shay Facey, James Clarke, Mat Sadler, Cameron Pring, Wes McDonald, James Hardy, Jack Kiersey, Danny Guthrie, Stuart Sinclair and Elijah Adebayo but despite having a side he believes can be a force in League 2 he is still on the lookout for reinforcements.
Speaking to Express and Star, Clarke said
“I think when you look at all the pre-season games – when you look at what I’d call my first eleven to a certain extent – we have probably got 14 or 15 players that I am comfortable can handle League Two as a force,”
“We need to add three or four more players to that.”
“Certainly at the top end of the pitch we need some cover.”
“And I’d like to bring one more experienced player in as well.”
Apart from Nuneaton, the Saddlers have somewhat struggled for goals during pre-season with Josh Gordon still to find the net however the defence has massively improved from last term.
You would hope with Wes McDonald being the only winger on the books Clarke will need to get another wide man in before the season starts otherwise 3-5-2 will have to be our preferred formation.
Many believe the starting XI for Notts County will be close to being Darrell Clarke’s first eleven on August 3rd.
