Burton boss Nigel Clough has said that despite his side not winning on Saturday, the six point gap between the Brewers and Saddlers remains and it will benefit the Brewers more than the Saddlers in coming weeks.

Speaking to Clubcall, the Burton boss said ‘We’ve kept the six-point gap between ourselves and Walsall and it’s another game gone that’s not damaged our position,’

‘It was a very tight game, nothing in it at all. I don’t think it was ever going to be an open game or a free-flowing classic and chances were few and far between.’

‘Defences were always on top and it was probably going to take a mistake to break the deadlock, but nobody made one.’

Burton now face three tough away games against Sheffield United, Crewe and Bradford – with many Walsall fans suggesting catching Burton is the best possible chance of gaining promotion.
