Walsall are rumoured to be giving trials to former Leeds midfielder Zac Thompson and former Man Utd striker John Cofie.

Walsall Advertiser have this morning said that both are rumoured to be training with the Saddlers, trying to earn a deal for the new season.

Thompson 22, is a battling midfielder who can also play as a right back.

Thompson was loaned out to Bury in 2012 and won Young Player Of The Year and played nine games for Leeds before being released this summer.

Striker Cofie, has been linked with the Saddlers every season since Smith has been here and it’s understood that the Saddlers boss is giving him another chance to impress following his goal drought at Sheffield United, Notts County, Molde, Barnsley and more recently Crawley.

Cofie was highly rated as a youngster at Man Utd however he has scored just seven goals in his career and will be hoping to reignite it here.

We understand John Di Biase has been released from his trial along with an unnamed Ross County centre half.
