Reports Suggesting Conference Leading Scorer Set To Sign

|

Reputable journalist Pete O’Rourke has tweeted that Tranmere striker Andy Cook is set to join us.

Anyone that read our article this morning would have seen that we saw speculation on Twitter that we were going to sign Andy Cook.

Cook has been in sensational form over the past four seasons and has gone on to score ninety seven goals in the Conference – including topping the goal scoring charts for the past two years.

Cook is out of contract this summer and looks set to leave the newly promoted Merseyside club and link up with the Saddlers.

Walsall boss Dean Keates was rumoured to wanting Cook when he was in charge at Wrexham.

Cook started his career at Carlisle before moving on loan to Barrow in 2009. Cooks performances on loan at Barrow forced the club to sign him permanently in 2011 and he went on to score eighteen goals in sixteen games. Grimsby was his next port of call and he went on to score fourteen goals in nineteen games for the Mariners but after his contract expired he went back to Barrow and scored forty seven goals in sixty two games.

Tranmere identified him as the man to fire them back into the Football League and signed him in 2016. Cook went onto score twenty three goals for Rovers in his first season and scored twenty six goals this term.

Given our goalscoring problems over the past two years it will be a godsend that someone so prolific could be joining the Saddlers!

We will bring you more as soon as we have it.
