Tory leader Mike Bird has today admitted that the new run Conservative constituency in Walsall would consider purchasing the Banks’s Stadium.

Mike Bird took full control of Walsall a few weeks ago from Labour leader Sean Coughlan and feels the Banks’s Stadium would be more beneficial as an income for the town than the controversial purchase of the Saddlers Centre.

Speaking to Express And Star  Bird said

“The income on the Banks’s Stadium would be a far better option than buying a retail centre.

“There are always choices and the choices we make is what people measure us on. But it is not on the agenda at the moment.”

A spokesman from Walsall FC said they would welcome discussions with the council over the sale of the freehold.

We all want the stadium to be owned by the Football Club and away from Suffolk Life however the thought of the council owning it does not sit right with us. I cannot see how we would be in a better position than we are now.
