Walsall’s wait for an away win in 2017 will now roll on into the 2017/18 season after an uninspiring defeat against already relegated Coventry City.

A George Thomas strike on 39 minutes settled the game after a neat move from a short corner. The Saddlers ever got going and there was no way back after on-loan defender Eoghan O’Connell was sent off half way through the second half.

The consensus among the travelling fans was that Jon Whitney needs to come up with a more dynamic plan for our away fixtures, or it will be another season of turgid football on the road.
