Cutler confident of away form improvement

It’s pretty well documented now that the Saddlers have a pretty abysmal away record under Jon Whitney, with the most telling stat being that are yet to win on the road in 2017.

Whitney’s men have another tough assignment on Saturday as they travel to take on Pep Clotet’s Oxford United. The Yellows are adapting to life under Clotet pretty well and will be looking to bounce back from last weekend’s defeat to Blackpool.

Speaking to the
Express & Star , Neil Cutler spoke about the belief within the camp of a positive result away from home being just round the corner.

‘It’s about being more ruthless at the back.

‘We are working hard to keep clean sheets but to do that we have to be more ruthless.

‘At Bristol Rovers we controlled the game but two blips cost us. That is what we are working on eradicating.

‘Rotherham hurt. But it was a massive learning curve. It can’t happen again.

‘But day in, day out we are working to improve. You cannot fault the boys and I think the fans are starting to notice that.’

Whilst Cuter demands a huge amount of respect because of his sterling work in goalkeeping department, it is difficult to see the away form changing for the better when looking back to the horror show at Rotherham. We can only hope that Whitney has learned his lessons from that match, and a catalogue of previous away disasters, and has a plan for victory on Saturday.

If you can’t make the game then we’ll have live coverage of the match from the Kassam Stadium via our Twitter page.
