Crewe boss Steve Davis was in full praise for Dean Smith and Walsall ahead of our league encounter.
Davis compared Walsall to Crewe and admitted the Saddlers have done well to continue to be a force despite losing some key players in recent years.
Davis said ‘Walsall are another good footballing side who have lost their best players over the last season or so’
‘It’s been hard for them, like it has us, to recruit very smartly with the money they’ve got available’
‘Dean had a really young squad a few years ago, lost those players, which happens when you’ve got good youngsters in your team.
‘The model he’s got is very similar to ours.
‘We know how difficult it can be to replace the (Jamie) Patersons and (Will) Griggs of this world because of how important they are.
Crewe have been graced with some brilliant youth players over the years that have gone on to make millions for the club so to gain praise from them is something to be proud of.
