Walsall manager DD was full of praise, after his side beat Stafford Rangers 3-1 in their second pre-season game.
DD told Walsall’s website that despite a scrappy start, the Saddlers shined through in the end.
He said: ‘We ended the opening period with a bit more cohesion and then after the break some of our passing and movement was terrific.
‘There is a lot of quality in our dressing; we need to build our levels of understanding, but that will come in time.’
DD also had a few words to say about his strikers, praising hat-trick hero and recent signing Tommy Mooney.
He added: ‘I thought that our strikers did well; Tommy Mooney has a proven record and can be pleased with his contribution, whilst Carlos Carneiro showed some nice touches, Martin Butler worked hard and Paul Hall ran them ragged when he re-entered the action in the second half.
‘Our two trialists gave a good account of themselves, so we will see how things develop over the next week or so.’
