Deeney Set To Join WBA For £21m As Odds Shorten

Rumours in todays national press are indicating that WBA are close to signing former Walsall striker Troy Deeney for £21m and his odds have shortened to 2/7 that he will sign for the Baggies before Wednesdays deadline.

According to reports Watford are willing to accept £20m for him and have already identified Benik Afobe as his replacement.

Now we always have this story every window so at present we will take it with a pinch of salt but as Walsall have a 20% sell on clause for their former front man they could be looking at a windfall of around £4m which will hopefully be used to purchase the freehold from under fire chairman Jeff Bonser.

Deeney moved from the Saddlers to Watford in 2010 and has gone on to score 102 goals in 289 appearances.

Deeneys new boss Javi Gracia has thrown more speculation on the move by stating he does not know whether the striker has a future at Watford, Deeney has not trained with the team all week due to illness.
