Defence Is Improving – But Not Quickly Enough

|

Walsall defender Nicky Devlin has this morning stated the Walsall defence is improving as result against Sunderland showed but feels that the improvement isn’t happening as fast as he would like.

The Saddlers conceded four sloppy goals against Bradford but Devlin felt it was one of those games and won’t let that performance distract the side.

The Saddlers have just one point more than we did this time last season and have conceded two more goals than we did at this time last season but Devlin believes they will turn it around.

Speaking to Express and Star Devlin said

“I think the defence is slowly starting to get there,”

“Bradford was unacceptable. But that isn’t us. It wasn’t a normal result.”

“We had a good clean sheet at Sunderland and I think that shows what we are capable of.”

The Saddlers face a tough trip to Peterborough today against a side scoring for fun and any replication of last weekends performance will see the Saddlers lose heavily. However we normally have a reaction and we need one heading into the festive break!
