New Zealand international Mark Paston saved a penalty to help his side beat Bahrain 1-0 in the World Cup play-off match to reach the finals in South Africa.

The 32-year-old former Saddlers shot-stoppper made a string of impressive saves before saving a penalty midway through the second half.

It was a vital moment, as a 1-1 draw would have sent Bahrain through instead of NZ.

Paston now plys his trade in the A-League with the Wellington Pheonix.

Vital Walsall wishes all the best to Mark in the World Cup finals.
