Walsall are sitting tight this evening, after boosting their squad by two this afternoon.

Striker Jonathan Macken and winger/striker Reuben Reid have both penned deals for the Saddlers.

Reid,22, joins on a sixth month loan, while Macken has signed a one year deal, with the option of one more.

It eases the striker woes, as Macken is to pull on the number 10 shirt, previously ownder by departed forward Troy Deeney.

Reuben Reid who arrives from West Bromwich Albion, will provide cover in the wing position, in addition to a striking role.

He began his career at Plymouth Argyle, where he spent loans at Kidderminster, Torquay United, Wycombe Wanderers and Brentford. After being let go from Argyle, he signed for Rotherham United, where he found his feet and became a firm fans’ favourite. He then joined West Bromwich Albion at the beginning of last season, but spent yet another 3 month loan at Peterborough United. Today’s signing makes it a well travelled 6 loan clubs and 3 permanent clubs in his short 5 season career.

As previously reported, Macken, 10 years Reid’s senior, spent time at Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Preston North End, Derby County, Ipswich Town and finally, Barnsley.

They will both no doubt go on to into the squad for Saturday’s visit of Plymouth Argle.
