Fans Describe Dobson Signing As ‘Meh’

Earlier this week the Saddlers signed former loanee George Dobson on a two and half year deal following his release from Sparta Rotterdam.

We ran a poll on our Twitter page asking fans what they thought of the signing. Over 450 fans voted in the poll and the results were as follows:

Meh – 49%
Just what we needed – 42%
No CM was needed – 9%

Craig Smith (@yamyamupnorth) said ‘Best case scenario: bringing in Dobson early in the transfer window is a sign of positive activity in the transfer window.

Worst case scenario: Dobson the only permanent signing, loan players go back, cash in on Ozzy, replaces them with more loan players.’

Alan Mighty Saddler (@AlanPritchard20) said ‘Hopefully Whitney Addresses our lack of a Goal Scoring Centre Forward James Hanson would be a Great Addition to our Team Sheffield United are Loaning him out. Make a move Whitney before we miss out.’

Dan Gilbert (@DGDanielGilbert) said ”Meh’. Everyone always seems to go wild when an ex-player comes back. Has potential, two and a half year deal is refreshing but we need more, he’s not going to drag us away from a relegation battle.’

Rob Jones (@RobJNumber13)said ‘Voted ‘just what we need’ on the basis that he’s the type of player we haven’t signed enough of during Whitney’s tenure. For me, we need to go back to Smith’s recruitment policy (Premier League cast-offs with potential) as quickly as possible if we’re to re-establish any identity’
