Walsall boss Dean Keates has rightfully been nominated for League 1 manager of the month for August following the Saddlers fantastic start to the season.
The Saddlers remain undefeated in League 1 with four wins and one draw from our opening five league games to leave the reds joint third in the table and five points clear of seventh place.
Its been a fast turnaround for Dean Keates men following last seasons struggle and all the plaudits must go to Dean for taking a struggling side, low on confidence and used to losing – to a side which now fears no one.
As well as the league, the Saddlers have won a league cup game against Tranmere however lost on penalties in round two against Macclesfield – the only blot on the page in what has been a superb first month in his first full season.
Thirteen points from a possible fifteen isn’t a bad return is it?
Peterborough’s Steve Evans, Portsmouth’s Kenny Jackett and Sunderland’s Jack Ross have also been shortlisted.
The winner will be announced on Friday.
