Fitzwater Unlikely To Return To Walsall

|

Walsall boss Dean Keates was given another defensive blow today with the news that Jack Fitzwater looks unlikely to return to the Banks’s Stadium.

Russell Martin mutually agreed to terminate his contract today and with Fitzwater not returning it leaves Dean Keates with just Jon Guthrie and on loan defender Conor Johnson – both of which featured in our 2-1 home defeat to Scunthorpe today.

Keates has conceded that whilst they were optimistic that Fitzwater would return it seems West Bromwich Albion have other ideas.

Fitzwater has played twenty five games (including substitute appearances) for the Saddlers this season scoring one goal. Fitzwater was also on loan last season playing a pivotal role to our survival.

Fitzwater went back to West Bromwich Albion last weekend for their FA Cup game with Wigan however he didn’t feature and neither did he feature this weekend. It still remains to be seen what future Jack has at WBA.

Speaking to Express and Star  Keates said

“Jack went back on the weekend, we were told he would play in the FA Cup and he would return to us,”

“That has changed, he is not our player, it is West Brom whether they send it back or not.”

“They have decided not to send it back, we will look elsewhere.”

“I get the impression that they want him to stay, so they can watch him in the team of their first team, so for us we have to look elsewhere, we will not get stuck.”
