The Saddlers fine form continued yesterday after our 1-0 home victory over promotion chasing Sutton United gave us our fourth win in our last seven games.

When Michael Flynn took over we found ourselves 18th in League 2 and just six points above the drop to the National League, roll forward a few weeks later and we now find ourselves closer to the top half rather than relegation.

A Connor Wilkinson penalty just after the half hour mark was enough to separate the sides and Flynn paid tribute to three of his defenders who were carrying knocks and recovering from illness.

Flynn said

“The most pleasing thing for me is Hayden White has had Covid and been really struggling, Manny Monthe has had swelling on his knee and Tyrese Shade has been ill.

“I had three players who, if we had a deeper squad, might not have started. Those three were colossal and showed an unbelievable character and commitment to the cause.”

The Saddlers now face relegation favourites Oldham on Tuesday hoping to get our 4th home win on the trot.
