We understand that Walsall FC accepted an offer for winger Jamie Paterson from Nottingham Forest.

The fee will no doubt be ‘undisclosed’ but we are lead to believe it is a six figure sum to rise to over a million pound should Forest reach the Premiership.

Jamie Paterson was a key figure of the club last season, topping the League 1 charts for most shots on goal.

Paterson was born in Coventry and came through the ranks here at The Banks’s Stadium and finally broke through into the first team in 2010, making 96 appearances for the Saddlers Paterson has scored 15 goals, 12 of which came last term.

To lose Grigg and Brandy was one thing but to lose Pato is a blow that I don’t think many Walsall fans will accept.

Everyone at Vital Walsall feels sorry for manager Dean Smith – as he will be the fall guy should the last minute sprint for new players doesn’t materialise.

The fans need answers and fast!
