Former Loanee Released By Bury

|

He was once expected to be the first player to move for £100m – but now Zeli Ismail has been released on a free transfer by Bury.

Ismail has fallen from grace since turning out impressive performances for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2012. Having played for England at Under 16 and Under 17 level it was expected that Ismail would become one of the best wingers in this country however it didn’t materialise.

Having only played nine times for Wolves, Ismail went out on loan to MK Dons, Burton Albion, Notts County, Oxford and Cambridge before Bury offered him a full time contract. His time at The Shakers was again inconsistent and he joined the Saddlers on loan last summer.

He was recalled by his parent club in January of this year but went on to play sixteen times for the Saddlers, scoring once.

Ismail is a player with real pace and talent. It is hopeful that he will see a move to Walsall as a chance to resurrect his career.

Ismail is still only 24 and has a bright future in the game, however his next move will be a massive one and given how we nurture talent (well up until the last two years) he could do a lot worse than becoming our number one winger.

With Walsall boss Dean Keates favourable of the 4-4-2 formation and with only one winger currently at the club (Morris), Keates will be looking to bolster that position this summer….step forward Zeli Ismail.
