Former Sheffield Wednesday And Charlton Defender Becomes Academy Manager

|

Walsall have today appointed former Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton defender Miguel Llera as the clubs new academy manager.

Llera had a distinguished playing career with over 400 appearances which started at Recreativo in 1999 where he moved onto play for Alicante, Gimnastic and Hercules before coming to the UK in 2008 to play for MK Dons.

His performances at MK Dons alerted clubs to his signature and he joined Charlton in 2009 before moving onto Sheffield Wednesday before ending his career with Scunthorpe.

Since leaving his playing days behind him he has been a scout for Sheffield Wednesday, Bristol City and Fleetwood.

He has also coached Sheffield Wednesday and Chesterfield’s youth sides.

In August 2017, he was appointed Professional Development Phase coach at Chesterfield, he had also been assistant manager and first team coach with the Spireites, but left the club in January 2018.

He has set up his own academy called the “Miguel Llera International Football Academy” where some of those players have gone onto play for Football League sides including his old club Sheffield Wednesday.

Llera holds a  UEFA Pro, A and B Licence and a PDP Advanced Youth Award.

Everyone at Vital Walsall welcomes Miguel to the club.
