Sawyers started his career at the Baggies where he played numerous times for their youth team between 2004 and 2009.
He spent time on loan at Port Vale and Shrewsbury but it was here at Walsall where he made his name.
He joined the Saddlers on loan in March 2013 however he made only four substitute appearances but manager Dean Smith saw enough in him to offer him a permanent contract during the summer following his release from WBA.
Between 2013 and 2016 Sawyers scored sixteen goals in one hundred and thirty appearances for the Saddlers and was nominated in the PFA team of the year during the 2015-16 season.
His performances for the Saddlers during that season alerted many Championship clubs and he finally got his move in July 2016 where he signed on a free transfer for Brentford. He has played over one hundred and twenty times for the Bees in the Championship scoring five times.
