We are sad to report that former Saddler, Brian Taylor has passed away aged 78.
Brian Joseph Taylor was born 24th March in 1937 and had a career spanning over sixteen years where he made 316 league appearances in the Football League.
He turned professional as a winger with Walsall in September 1954, before joining Birmingham City for a few of £10,000 in June 1958.
He played in the top flight, as well as in Europe, for Birmingham before he was suffered a broken leg in 1960.
He moved down a division to join Rotherham United in October 1961, before moving to Shrewsbury Town two years later.
Four years later he joined Port Vale for £3,000. He transferred to Barnsley in May 1967, and helped the club to win promotion out of the Fourth Division in 1967-68.
He later played non-league football with Kidderminster Harriers, Bromsgrove Rovers, Welshpool Town, Oswestry Town and Darlaston.
He made seventy seven appearances for the Saddlers scoring seventeen goals.
