Former Sadler Matty Fryatt was touched by the reception he received at the Bescot Stadium on Tuesday even though he had a hand in Walsall’s defeat to Leicester.
“I’d like to say thanks to all the Walsall fans who sang my name on Tuesday night. Their side were 4-0 down at the time and they’ve had a tough season so I would have understood if they’d got on my back a bit, but to cheer me was fantastic. I was really touched. I left the club a few years ago now but I’d like to think they remembered the hard work I put in while I was there.
“It was nice to go back but there aren’t many faces on the playing staff that I remember from my days as a Sadler and the management team has all changed so it was just the fans that were the same…”
