Walsall were beaten 4-0 by Wolves tonight.

Richard Taundry was the captain for the night, at times he showed leadership, though he was shut down on occasions as powerful Wolves quelled his voice. 6/10

Wolves started busily and Walsall did not get much of a look in in the first 15 minutes. The first goal coming from Ashley Hemmings. He snuck in past Darryl Westlake and Wolves got a goal that was itching to come.

Walsall began to pass the ball as the first half settled down, with Matthew Richards seeing the 1st shot of the game going just wide. Richard Taundry followed up just moments later but his shot too went achingly wide.

Some good work between Taundry, Jones and Deeney on minute 35 saw the ball miss the target. However, Wolves were hot on their heels as the ball was sent straight up the other end and Sam Vokes was gifted his first of two goals, with Manny Smith failing to deal with the threat.

Vokes waited just minutes for his second, as the Saddler defence didn’t react quickly enough, leaving goal keeper Brain furious.

The second half saw a lot of changes for both teams, with Wolves changing their entire team, bar one player, half way through.

Wolves started quietly in the second half, with some good play between the Saddler midfield and forwards.

However, Wolves fourth and final goal came 65 minutes in, with Sylvan Ebanks- Blake sending a powerful strike into the back of the net, slipping through an vitally absent defence.

The Saddler’s picked themselves up and the rest of the game saw fairly even play. This was a credit to the Saddler’s show, as there were mainly youngster substitutions, against a strengthened Wolves side..

Deeney came with a good chance on 80 minutes, but was fouled on the edge of the box.

Richard Taundry was awarded the Man of the Match award, deservingly after a tenacious performance. The attendance was 4,963.
