In a video released by the club today, plans were revealed about how the powers that be, are planning a return to football, both with and without fans.

Dan Mole spoke with the media team and revealed the measures that they are looking at, when the 20/21 season resumes. Mole confirmed that the players were The club are preparing to play between 4 and 6, pre-season friendlies, 1 at home, and the rest at different venues. It wasn’t stated whether the games would be hosted by Walsall or not, just that one game would be held at the Bank’s. Understandably, all the games will be behind closed doors. I am glad to see that the stadium will have chance to be used for a test run, before the competitive season begins.

Dan Mole has spoken about how the new community hub facility will be good for the away teams to be based. They will need space between the teams whilst indoors, that will require more than just the changing facilities. Having a stadium of our size, with the facilities we have, is proving useful when planning how to remain distanced.

So what about when the season starts? There is talk of a cup game taking place the week before the season starts, meaning competitive football could be back on September 5th. Obviously we are unsure if this will be at home or away, but it will be behind closed doors. Mole was keen to stress, that the date of October 1st, for fans to be allowed back, is not set in stone, and that it could move forward, or backwards, dependant on what the rules are at the time.

Finally, although plans weren’t revealed yet, Dan and the club have started to gather information about season ticket holders, and their social bubbles. This will mean that they can start to plan where fans can sit, and how much space the season ticket holders will be taking up. This will mean that when figures of how many people can attend games is confirmed, the club can begin to see the best way to go about it. Mole also was quick to talk about the entrances, exits, and car parks, mentioning that with the size of the car parks at the stadium, that catering facilities could be put there.

Overall, I thought the video, that you can find here, was informative, and great to see Dan being able to speak freely, and openly about what is happening at the club.
