We were talking about the experiment of playing Anthony in midfield against Swansea, not knowing that injuries would mean that he would start in that role against Acccrington on saturday.

Well before that game 51% thought that it worked well, with only 16% declaring it as a mistake, with the other 33% unsure but willing to give him another chance in the role.

So what of saturdays game, well with Deano next to him rather than Kinsella things didn’t look so good. Anthony missed the guidence of Kinsella. His performance wasn’t poor it was just inexperienced. Anthony tackled well in midfield, and we wouldn’t expect anything less. However he was less adapt at tracking the runs of the Accrington midfield and hence often found himself out of position. On the plus point he did use the ball well on a couple of occassions. He did feed Wrighty for the cross that led to the first goal, but for teletext to call him a playmaker was a bit over the top.

My conclusion is keep trying, but I don’t know if first team football is the place to do it…..unless we are three up with 15 minutes to play!!
