Former Walsall boss Ray Graydon has insisted there is only one side he wants to see lift the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy on Sunday evening…and thats not just because hes a Bristol Rovers fan!
Speaking to Walsall Advertiser, Sir Ray said ‘When I go back to the Midlands it’s a fantastic thing – I go out and about and if I meet somebody from Walsall, they will be telling me they were at the Millennium or if it wasn’t them it was their dad, and it was the best moment of their dad’s life.’
‘And if I meet football people from Villa, they say ‘I was there at the League Cup final when you scored the goal, the penalty that was saved and you put back in’.’
‘So they are magic moments to me and I would like there to be magic moments for Walsall this weekend obviously. I will be rooting for them’.
‘They were a big part of my life, they gave me some of the best moments of my life. And I would only wish the best for the manager, the supporters and the owner of the football club that they can go there and win.’
Graydon was a player and manager at Bristol Rovers and despite being from the blue side of the city and wanting a Walsall victory on Sunday, he hopes Bristol City go up as champions so there is cause for a double celebration.
