Grigg Hails Walsall As A Fantastic Club With Fantastic Fans And Hopes Club Will Stay Up

|

Former Walsall striker Will Grigg has today said he hopes the club he holds “a place for in his heart” will avoid the drop this season.

Following Grigg’s winner on Saturday the Saddlers dropped into the relegation zone for the first time since September 2016 but he admits that the quality Walsall showed on Saturday should see them retain their League 1 status.

Despite having his critics Grigg also praised the Walsall supporters.

Speaking to Express And Star, Grigg said

“I was speaking to a few Walsall fans before the game and they were absolutely brilliant.”

“They are always so friendly.”

“I loved my time at the club and it was sad to have to score against them.”

Grigg joined Walsall in 2008 and went onto score twenty-seven goals in ninety-nine appearances before moving to Brenford in 2013 – Grigg states that Walsall is the first result he looks out for and thanks for the club for helping his career.

“I always look out for Walsall’s results,”

“The club has a place in my heart.”

“I definitely, definitely don’t want to see them go down. It’s a great club with fantastic fans.”

“And from what I have seen from the last few games they are going to be okay.”

The Saddlers face Barnsley in front of the Sky cameras this weekend hoping to get out of the relegation zone.
