Former Saddler loanee and fans favourite Mathew Gill has signed for Bristol Rovers on a 3 year contract.

After voicing an early interest in joining the Saddlers after being released by newly promoted Norwich City, initial contact between his agent and Dean Smith appeared to have been unsuccessful and Gill opted for The Gas.

Bristol Rovers were thrashed 6-1 at the Banks’s by the Saddlers and were subsequently relegated the league 2, with money perhaps being the deciding factor in his move, highlighting the plight Walsall finds itself in in finding new and talented players.

The 30 year old paired nicely alongside Matthew Richards in midfield during his 8 game stay and received applause upon his last game at Colchester United before returning to the Canaries.

This comes as a shock to many supporters who were keen he was to make it to Walsall. The search goes on!
