How can we help?

|

In a video with the club that was released today, Leigh Pomlett gave a simple message to fans. The video can be seen here, and outlines his views on the news that fans will not be allowed in.

So what was his message? Simply put, the club WILL survive, but he needs fans help, and Walsall fans being Walsall fans, have already been chomping at the bit to do so. So here are a few of the ways that you can help Leigh Pomlett, and Walsall FC.

Merchandise

This is one the ways that benefits both you AND the club. By purchasing merchandise from the club shop, the club will keep the money coming in, and as Leigh Pomlett says, ‘keep the cashflow’. The reason that I say it benefits you, is that you get something in return for giving the club money. Things like facemasks, stationary, and obviously kits (and other clothing), are things that we all use, and some items aren’t too expensive to buy. For those that can, merchandise is a way to feel that you get a bonus for giving the club your money. The club were overwhelmed by the number of shirts sold. However the range in the club shop is vast, and not just limited to shirts. If you do have a shirt, then things like getting your name on the back would be a low cost for the club, but a great income.

I know there have been issues with the service, so please don’t shoot me down here. Like many of you, I have been frustrated at the fact that it has been like trying to watch a video by using dial-up internet, but it is the closest the club get to ticket sales. So I will be continuing to buy my match passes, despite the bad service, it is the only way to see the team play, and the club need to £8 per pass. We know the breakdown of the 500 away, and we have already surpassed that. For those who are not season ticket holders, home games are as important, each pass goes towards the club, and Pomlett needs the money.

Fan Run Donations

We have seen many fans looking to set up ways to contribute money in a one off donation, or even direct debit. Walsall fan, and all-round top bloke Rob Harvey, has set-up a page, where fans who want to contribute money, as and when they want/can, are able to. The idea behind this, has been labelled a ‘pie and a pint’. So for those who want the money they would spend on a matchday to still go to the club, this is the way to do so. The page is not yet live, however when it is, I will be sharing it around through the appropriate channels to help fans easily be able to access it. For those who don’t already, Rob is on twitter @TheRobHarvey_ so give him a follow, as he will be updating fans throughout.

Season Ticket Holders

This is the one I have to plug the least, as many of you have already been sharing that they will be telling the club that they can keep their season ticket money. Leigh Pomlett was open in the video and said that he will be offering fans a compensation package if they need the money back. He stressed the point that if you need it, then the offer is there, as the club are fully aware people may need the money back. However, for those that can keep the money in the club, then he will be eternally grateful. Like I said, the number of fans who want the club to keep the money is overwhelming, and the club are already noticing it, and are thankful.

There are a few of the ways that fans can help out. There are different ways that will hopefully suit different peoples needs. Leigh Pomlett will keep our club going, and on the field, Darrell Clarke will keep the players pushing in the right direction. A final plea from me, is that we may see things happen that we don’t like. Players may leave, and changes may be made. But please trust the club, and trust Leigh Pomlett. He truly has the club in his heart, and will act as he sees fit for the benefit of Walsall FC.
