How Does Dean Keates Reign Rank In Our History?

|

Following Dean Keates departure we look at his record compared to past Walsall managers and it doesn’t make good reading.

We have taken every manager to have managed over fifty games for the Saddlers and compared Keates win %, draw %, loss % and points per game ratio against his predecessors.

Keates final tally as manager reads P60 W18 D13 L29

Win %

His win % stands at just 30% – which puts him as the fifth worst Walsall manager of all time. Only Brough Fletcher, John Barnwell, Frank Buckley and Jimmy Torrance can boast a worse record.

Loss %

He fears slightly better on the loss % front with 48.3% – six managers losing more games than him in charge.

Draw %

Keates was the 22nd highest Walsall boss based on draw % – drawing 21.7% of his games in charge

Points per game ratio

On the basis of three points for a win and one point for a draw, Keates boasts the sixth worst points per game ratio in the history of Walsall FC.

At 1.12 points per game, only Brough Fletcher, John Barnwell, Frank Buckley, Jimmy Torrance and J.H Robinson have a worse ratio.

Stats are whatever you make of them but based on his win %, loss % and points per game ratio, Dean Keates is in the bottom five managers in Walsall Football Clubs history.

Lets hope whoever takes over the reigns after Martin O’Connors caretaker role can be at the right end of our history.
