Ian Sharps Leaves Walsall

|

Walsall have today announced that First Team coach Ian Sharps has today left the club.

Sharps joined the club from Chester City in November 2016 to give assistance to Jon Whitney however Sharps came underfire from a section of Walsall fans for our dismal defensive displays.

Sharps was heckled at our final game of the season at Fleetwood with the travelling contingent calling for him to be removed.

Sharps playing career saw him play for Tranmere, Rotherham, Shrewsbury and Burton Albion – where he gained over 400 league appearances.

Sharps had a UEFA A coaching licence but you feel that his future at the club was untenable following the defensive displays and his one game stint as caretaker boss.

Andy Davies is rumoured to be his successor having served alongside Dean Keates at Wrexham however nothing is confirmed as of yet.

We would like to wish Ian the best of luck for the future.
