Injury woes abound for U’s clash

The thin Walsall squad could looked even bearer ahead of Saturday’s visit of Colchester United, as several Saddlers struggle with injuries and suspension.

Richard Taundry left the game at half time at Tuesday’s defeat in the JPT with a knee injury, whereas Oliver Lancashire was a late substitute with a slight stomach complaint, but should recover in time for the game. Taundry has returned to light training, but only time will tell of his availability.

Hutchings told the Express and Star: ‘He tweaked his knee in a collision. He`s a tough cookie, though, and if there`s any chance of him playing he`ll play.”

Steve Jones, who has not played since suffering ankle injury against Plymouth Argyle 2 weeks ago, may return to training later this week but despite this, his availability for the game looks doubtful.

Good news however as Byfield, who has been ruled out with an Achilles injury for two weeks, looks set to return. Fellow striker Alex Nicholls is a definite absentee as he serves the second of a three game ban for his red card at Brighton.

I will be crossing my fingers and toes that the squad can be as available as possible. After Tuesday’s disappointment, the supporters need some good news!
