Odds of former Saddlers midfielder Dean Keates returning to his boyhood club as manager have dropped dramatically to 1/7 this evening amid speculation that is he set to become Walsall boss.
Bryn Law from Sky Sports has also tweeted this, this evening
It looks like @Wrexham_AFC will soon be on the hunt for a new manager. If @keates12 is off to @WFCOfficial I`m chuffed for him, he`s done a great job in rebuilding and refocusing the squad in a short space of time. Still, on that basis, I`m gutted for my club that he`s off.

Keates has done an amazing job at Wrexham in such a short space of time and the lure of returning to his hometown seems to be too much. Beechdale born Keates played over two hundred times for the Saddlers and won promotion as a player on three occasions scoring the title winning goal against Swindon.
Should Keates return home then credit must go to the board for agreeing compensation with Wrexham and getting the deal over the line.
I don’t think Keates will need to do much to get fans on his side.
