Is history about to repeat itself?

|

In the past we have seen players who have struggled to find a home, settle at the Bank’s, only to leave at the first opportunity.

Today, Darrell Clarke has confirmed that talks with Wes McDonald have been ongoing for a number of weeks. In an interview with Express and Star’s Liam Keen, (article linked below) Clarke has said that the club ‘want him to stay‘ and that ‘he’s enjoying his football so let’s hope he does’.

Clarke also eluded to something we as Walsall fans have been all too aware of over the last few years ‘at the end of the day, we’re like any other football club and we can go to a certain level’  What does this mean? Well, it seems as though Clarke is outlining that the club cannot just blow a lot of their wage bill for one player, and that they are restricted, something we all know about too well.

Personally, I would love Wes to stay, he is creative, quick, and we have seen him develop already, within 6 months. However, I can history repeating itself, where stories about the likes of Brandy and Lalkovic, are the same as this, just with a different name.
